Jason Kohlmeyer is a Family Law attorney based in Mankato, Minnesota, serving clients through Kohlmeyer Hagen Law Office, Chtd. Raised in Northwest Minnesota, Jason learned the importance of responsibility and persistence at an early age while working summers on his uncle’s bean farm. While still in high school, he joined the Army Reserve and later served as an Army Intelligence Analyst after graduation, developing skills that continue to influence his thoughtful and prepared approach to legal representation.
Jason earned his undergraduate degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, and began his professional career as a Social Studies teacher in St. Paul. His desire to help people navigate difficult situations led him to pursue a legal career. Jason received his law degree from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, and clerked with the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, where he observed the importance of individualized attention and clear communication in legal matters.
Admitted to practice law in 2000, Jason entered private practice with a focus on improving the client experience. In 2008, he helped establish his own law firm, applying a strong work ethic and problem-solving mindset to each case. His practice centers on Family Law and Family Law Mediation, assisting individuals and families with divorce, spousal support, child custody, parenting time, and farm divorces throughout Southern Minnesota.
In addition to his family law practice, Jason has represented individuals in personal injury matters, including car accidents, slip and fall injuries, and dog bite cases in the Mankato area. He has tried cases to verdict and negotiated substantial settlements on behalf of injured clients. Jason has also spoken nationally on family law topics, sharing practical insight with legal professionals.
Jason lives in Mankato with his wife and children. Outside the office, he enjoys adv motorcycyling. He is also a published author and completed his first book, The Divorce Survival Guide: Getting Divorced in Minnesota, available in print and Kindle editions on Amazon.
