Biography
Janae is an associate in Tannenbaum Helpern’s Employment Law practice. She is skilled in handling litigation and employment-related matters in state, federal and administrative courts. Prior to her current role, Janae was an associate at a midsized full service firm where she practiced commercial litigation and employment law. She had worked in the General Counsel’s Office of the Brooklyn Borough President, American Express, Thomson Reuters and Viacom Media Networks. During law school, Janae was awarded a fellowship by the New York State Bar Association to clerk for Judge O. Peter Sherwood in the New York State Supreme Court Commercial and Federal Litigation Division.
As a student at Brooklyn Law School, Janae volunteered for the Immigration Visa Assistance Program and served as the Attorney General for the Black Law Students Association and as the Executive Articles Editor of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law. She was also a recipient of the Pro Bono Scholars Award for having over 500 pro bono hours serving the community and providing legal services for indigent clients while in law school. Janae was a 2018 Ms. JD Fellow and is now the co-director of the Ms. JD Fellowship Program.
