Biography

Managing Partner and Personal Injury Attorney

Jim Carey serves as the President and Managing Partner of SiebenCarey and has spent decades representing individuals and families across Minnesota in wrongful death and personal injury cases. His practice focuses on serious injury litigation involving car accidents, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence and abuse, and catastrophic injuries.

Known for his courtroom experience and results in high-stakes litigation, Jim has earned recognition from many of the legal profession’s most respected organizations. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), an invitation-only organization recognizing accomplished trial attorneys who demonstrate exceptional advocacy skills, professionalism, and integrity.

Jim was also inducted into the International Society of Barristers, an honor reserved for outstanding trial lawyers selected by their peers. He has repeatedly been named to Super Lawyers and received “Attorney of the Year” recognition from Minnesota Lawyer for his leadership, professional accomplishments, and impact within the legal community.

In addition to his litigation practice, Jim has held leadership roles dedicated to protecting the rights of injured individuals. He served as President of the Minnesota Association for Justice, an organization committed to preserving access to justice and advocating for consumer rights.

Jim is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by both the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the Minnesota State Bar Association, a distinction earned by fewer than two percent of Minnesota personal injury attorneys. He is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Million Dollar Roundtable, recognizing attorneys who have secured million-dollar verdicts and settlements on behalf of clients.

A frequent speaker and educator, Jim has lectured on personal injury law at legal seminars and local law schools, including Mitchell Hamline School of Law and the University of St. Thomas. He is consistently recognized among Minnesota’s leading personal injury attorneys, including selection to The Best Lawyers in America.
