With 35 years experience, Jim assists clients in resolving serious business and litigation matters. Jim focuses his practice on business, insurance and aviation matters. He has enjoyed an A rating from Martindale-Hubbell® for over 20 years. Jim has been inducted into the Legal Counsel of America, and was selected as one of the Best Lawyers in America in 2015 in the areas of Commercial Litigation and Insurance.
Jim has been married for 40 years with two wonderful children and now two grandchildren.
Jim is a pilot and owns a Cessna 206, which he enjoys flying in Alaska, Arizona and all places in between. Jim's hobbies include hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities in Alaska and Arizona. He stays physically active and loves to play hockey, hike, bike and golf. He enjoys riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle with his friends on the Arizona desert roads.
Jim attended St. Olaf College in his hometown of Northfield, Minnesota, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977. He attended Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa, where he was awarded a Juris Doctor degree (cum laude) in 1980. After graduating from law school he was accepted into the Attorney General's Honor Law Graduate Program with the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., where he served as a trial attorney in the Tax Division from 1980-1984. Jim has been in the private practice of law since 1984.
