James is a Partner in our leading Resources and Energy practice with considerable front-end and litigious experience. He advises and appears in relation to all commercial and litigious aspects of mining and infrastructure tenure in Western Australia. His practice includes the acquisition and sale of mining tenements and projects, due diligence, granting of mining and infrastructure tenure, joint ventures, farm-in agreements, native title, freedom of information applications, access agreements, split commodity agreements, pastoral and freehold land compensation agreements, royalty agreements, resource company acquisitions, forfeiture and objection proceedings in the WA Warden’s Court and judicial review applications before the WA Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. James is a co-author of the fifth edition of Hunt on Mining Law of Western Australia and a member of the AMEC Mining Legislation Committee and the WA Committee of AMPLA. Most recently, James was named by Doyle's Guide in Leading Energy & Resources Lawyers - Western Australia, 2018.
