Biography

James Barry is a partner at DeNittis Osefchen Prince PC in Marlton, New Jersey. He represents plaintiffs in complex litigation matters, including mass tort litigation and class actions. Mr. Barry has more than 15 years of experience advocating for individuals and government entities in federal and state courts in cases involving consumer fraud, wage and hour violations, environmental contamination, data breaches, and other complex disputes.

Mr. Barry has held leadership roles in consolidated proceedings and mass tort matters across the country. These matters involve claims arising from defective products, data security incidents, and other issues affecting large groups of plaintiffs.

He has also argued multiple matters before the New Jersey Supreme Court and the Appellate Division, addressing consumer protection laws, arbitration provisions, and class certification issues. Mr. Barry has also tried cases to verdict in courts in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Beyond his litigation practice, Mr. Barry has contributed to legal scholarship and professional organizations. He co-authored the chapter titled “NJ Class Actions” in the 2020 New Jersey Mass Torts & Class Actions Treatise published by NJICLE. He previously served as co-chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Consumer Law Section and the New Jersey Association for Justice’s Consumer Law Section.

Mr. Barry earned his law degree with honors from Rutgers University School of Law–Camden, where he served as an articles editor for the Journal of Law and Religion. While participating on the Rutgers Vis Moot Arbitration Team, he received the Maro R. Sondahl Award for Excellence in International Arbitration. He received his undergraduate degree in history from Rowan University, graduating with honors.

Mr. Barry lives in Moorestown, New Jersey with his wife, Dara, their two children, and two rescued dogs. He remains active in the local community and was elected to the Moorestown Town Council in 2024. He previously served on the Moorestown Environmental Advisory Committee and the Moorestown Planning Board, and he is also a member of the Burlington County Democratic Committee.
