Jacob “Jake” M. Monty is a Houston, Texas attorney and founding partner of Monty & Ramirez LLP. For more than two decades, he has represented employers in matters involving Employment Law - Management, Immigration Law, Labor Law - Management, and Litigation - Labor and Employment. His practice focuses on helping businesses address workforce, compliance, and workplace disputes, particularly in industries with significant Hispanic workforces and heightened immigration enforcement concerns.
Mr. Monty regularly advises employers on immigration compliance, labor relations, workplace policies, government investigations, and employment litigation. He has represented clients across a range of industries, including professional sports organizations, grocery store chains, restaurants, construction companies, and facility maintenance businesses. In addition to counseling employers on day-to-day workforce issues, he has represented clients in courts and administrative proceedings throughout Texas and in states including California, Illinois, New York, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Louisiana.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Mr. Monty frequently speaks on labor, immigration, and employment law topics affecting employers and management teams. He is the author of two books addressing workplace and immigration-related issues and has been interviewed by national media outlets, including Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC, regarding developments in immigration policy and enforcement.
Mr. Monty founded Monty & Ramirez LLP to provide employers with coordinated legal counsel across immigration, labor, employment, workplace safety, and related business matters. Working alongside the firm’s bilingual attorneys, he assists employers with preventive strategies, internal investigations, union-related matters, and litigation involving workforce issues.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Monty has served in several public and civic leadership roles. His appointments have included service on the University of Houston Board of Regents, the Texas Private Security Board, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the Border Environment Cooperation Commission, and the North American Development Bank. He also serves as Outside Counsel for the Mexican Consulate in Houston and chairs the Center for Latino Jewish Relations.
