Biography
J. Beverly is a board-certified civil appellate attorney with decades of experience representing businesses, investors, property owners, contractors, and individuals in complex litigation and appellate matters. His practice spans commercial disputes, construction and real estate litigation, environmental contamination claims, insurance coverage disputes, partnership conflicts, securities and investor claims, probate matters, and oil and gas litigation. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts across Texas and New Mexico.
Throughout his career, J.W. has developed a broad trial and appellate practice involving contract disputes, construction defect claims, deed restrictions, whistleblower matters, telecommunications litigation, foreclosure disputes, and business torts. He has extensive experience representing oil and gas producers in environmental contamination matters, contractors and property owners in construction disputes, and investors pursuing claims against brokerage firms and financial advisors.
J.W. has tried more than 45 cases in state and federal courts and has appeared in courts throughout Texas, including more than 35 counties statewide. His appellate experience includes handling more than 100 appeals before numerous Texas Courts of Appeals, the Texas Supreme Court, and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Federal Circuits.
At FBFK Law, J.W.’s practice includes both litigation and transactional matters. His litigation work includes disputes involving mineral property liens, fraudulent transfer claims, shareholder derivative actions, construction contract disputes, insurance coverage matters, commercial lease disputes, fiduciary duty claims, wrongful termination defenses, and church governance disputes. His transactional practice includes company formation, corporate governance, shareholder agreements, real estate transactions, commercial leasing, homeowner association formation, and general business transactions.
Before joining FBFK Law, J.W. was a founding partner of a Texas litigation boutique where he handled a wide range of trial and appellate matters involving environmental, construction, real estate, employment, securities, patent, probate, election, and commercial disputes. Earlier in his career, he practiced at a Texas litigation firm focusing on complex trial and appellate matters, including telecommunications and environmental litigation, where he managed all phases of litigation from discovery and expert preparation through appeals and post-trial proceedings.
J.W. also served as a Briefing Attorney for Judge Charles F. Campbell at the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, where he conducted legal research and drafted opinions involving criminal and constitutional law issues, including death penalty and search and seizure matters.
He is admitted to practice in Texas and New Mexico, multiple United States District Courts, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Federal Circuits, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. J.W. is a member of the Texas Association of Trial and Appellate Specialists and has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America for Appellate Practice.
