Irwin Ozier is a partner at Loopstra Nixon in Toronto, Ontario, with a practice focused on Construction Law, construction litigation, and alternative dispute resolution. He advises and represents contractors, subcontractors, owners, developers, suppliers, and businesses in complex disputes involving construction projects, commercial relationships, and workplace matters.
Irwin has extensive experience handling construction litigation matters, including contract disputes, delay claims, lien actions, deficiency claims, and commercial disputes arising from construction projects. In addition to his Construction Law practice, he advises clients on employment law matters, commercial leasing disputes, debt enforcement, and general commercial litigation.
Known for his practical and strategic approach, Irwin works closely with clients to understand their business objectives and provide effective legal solutions tailored to their needs. He has represented clients in mediation, arbitration, and court proceedings across Ontario and regularly assists clients in resolving disputes efficiently and cost-effectively.
Irwin has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Canada, and various administrative tribunals, including matters involving human rights issues.
For more than 20 years, Irwin has lectured on Construction Law and commercial leasing remedies for industry and professional audiences. His longstanding relationships with clients have led businesses and individuals to seek his counsel on a broad range of litigation and commercial matters.
Before joining Loopstra Nixon, Irwin was a partner at GSNH for more than 25 years and served as one of the firm’s managing partners. He has been recognized in the 2025 and 2027 editions of Best Lawyers in Canada.
