|Howard is a Past Chair of the Citizenship and Immigration Law Specialization Committee of the Law Society of Upper Canada, responsible for certifying lawyers in this practice field. He is also a Past Chairperson of both the Canadian Bar Association’s National Immigration Section and the Citizenship and Immigration Section of the Canadian Bar Association (Ontario). He is a Past Co-Chair of the Nationality and Immigration Committee of the International Bar Association. He founded the Canadian Immigration Policy Research Council, a think tank that provides policy input to Citizenship and Immigration Canada. Howard is recognized as a leading immigration lawyer in the Who’s Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers and a leading practitioner in the 2016 Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory.|
|Howard has written extensively in the area of immigration and has published papers and articles in various publications such as: the Canadian HR Reporter; CERC Perspectives Magazine; Global Mobility Magazine; and the IBA Immigration and Nationality Law Committee Newsletter. He is a frequent speaker on various immigration topics, having presented for: the Canadian Employment Relocation Council (CERC); The Law Society of Upper Canada (Annual Immigration Law Summit); the Canadian Bar Association (National Citizenship & Immigration Conference); the CBA Canadian Legal Conference; and the Engineering Human Resources Association (EHRA). Howard has also appeared before the House of Representatives Subcommittee on Immigration to provide expertise on the workings of the Canadian immigration system as part of the US comprehensive immigration reform.|
