Helen Mac Murray is a founding member of Mac Murray, Petersen & Shuster. Helen’s practice primarily focuses on governmental relations and litigation involving state attorneys general, including multi-state investigations; the FTC and national and state consumer protection and privacy laws.
Helen’s extensive experience includes serving as the Chief of the Consumer Protection Section of the Ohio Attorney General’s office. In 2000, the section received NACAA’s Agency of the Year Award. In this role, Helen facilitated the leadership role of the National Association of Attorney General Consumer Protection Committee under Attorney General Betty Montgomery, who is of Counsel to the firm. Helen participated in and led multiple multistate investigations in this role, many in conjunction with the FTC, CFPB and FCC. Helen also worked closely with the FTC on the drafting of many federal rules and laws including the Telemarketing Sales Rule.
Helen is the past president of the Ohio Women’s Bar Association, and currently chairs the ABA Consumer Protection Subcommittee where she was a founding member.
In addition to her practice, Helen is a frequent national speaker on consumer regulatory issues. She has appeared, or been featured in, stories appearing on various media outlets including ABC News, PrimeTime Live, NBC Nightly News, Dateline NBC, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, American Greed and many others.
