Harry Trueheart, the firm’s Chairman Emeritus, focuses his practice on helping clients resolve business disputes, particularly international disputes, through litigation, arbitration and mediation.
What do you focus on?
I litigate a wide range of business disputes from investment, to M&A to competition, accounting and technology issues in courts and in arbitrations. I have particular experience in international arbitration, representing both businesses and governments in disputes involving major energy projects, development projects and privatizations among other matters.
I regularly serve as an arbitrator and mediator. I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators, an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and ICDR and a mediator for Federal Court sponsored mediation. I am a member of the Executive Advisory Committee of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution.
In addition to my work for the firm’s clients, I am Chair and CEO of TerraLex®, a worldwide network of more than 155 leading independent law firms in 100 countries and 44 U.S. states, of which Nixon Peabody has been a member for over two decades. This work brings me into daily contact with lawyers and issues around the world. The power and cost effectiveness of combining the local experience and connections of member firms into teams to serve the cross border legal needs of clients is impressive to see in action.
