Mills Gallivan is a senior partner and Certified Mediator & Arbitrator who practices law in Greenville, South Carolina, and has been recognized since 1995. Over the past 45 years Mills has applied his knowledge, skill and energy to providing clients with creative legal solutions. He states that law school refined his ability to solve legal problems using the analytical side of his brain to gather and organize facts, apply the law, and use the legal process in pursuit of solutions.
Throughout his career, Mills has been an aggressive advocate for his clients, willing to push for a speedy and efficient resolution of their disputes through negotiation when possible and trial when necessary. He tells people that he is in the problem-solving business. His current Strategic Dispute Resolution practice allows him to focus on four-plus decades of negotiation, litigation and trial experiences in the pursuit of elegant and creative legal solutions.
Mills currently provides negotiation counseling as well as mediation, arbitration and Special Referee services to parties seeking timely, effective and efficient resolution of legal and business problems. With experiences as a litigator and trial attorney, Mills has a strong foundation in the law with the South Carolina Court System and strong relationships with the members of the South Carolina Bar.
In addition, Mills has dedicated significant time and talent to improving the profession and mentoring young lawyers. His passion for the law and helping younger lawyers has led him to a number of leadership roles in legal organizations that advance the rule of law and work to preserve the civil justice system. Mills states that his proudest career accomplishments have been receiving the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association Robert W. Hemphill Award in 2019 and the University of South Carolina Law School Platinum Compleat Lawyer Award in 2018.
