His transactional finance practice includes a particular emphasis on maritime industry related financings, including vessel and fleet acquisition financings, sale/leaseback transactions and domestic and international vessel construction financings. He also has handled numerous US government-guaranteed ship and shipyard financings. Hughes coordinates a team of firm lawyers that supports one of the firm’s largest clients, a mining company, in drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts. The contracts handled by Hughes and his team include domestic and international procurement, services, engineering, professional consulting, construction, and transportation and related logistics, as well as commercial real estate leases and related matters. He works closely with corporate and site personnel on global supply chain and project construction related matters. Representing a variety of public and private companies, Hughes drafts and negotiates a varied range of sophisticated commercial and corporate contracts, including domestic and international strategic alliance agreements, joint ventures, marketing agreements, sales agreements, logistics contracts, vessel construction contracts, and maritime transportation contracts.
