Giuseppe Barreca has been assisting a large number of domestic and multinational corporations and banks in relation to significant commercial transactions (e.g. in relation to public procurement and contracts, and to the acquisition of companies in the context of large financing operations), both in the domestic and in the international markets, including in the U.K. (where he has been practicing in the past) as well as in Western and Eastern Europe, the U.S.A., South America, the Middle East, Turkey, the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Northern Africa.
He studied at “La Sapienza” university of Rome, where he obtained his degree in Law (summa cum laude) and then he obtained an Executive Master in Business Administration at the LUISS Guido Carli university of Rome. In 1988, he attended the Academy of American and International Law at the Southwestern Legal Foundation in Dallas, Texas.
Since 1986, he has been practicing in Rome, Milan and London.
After a nine-year partnership in the Carnelutti Law Firm of Rome, he joined Ernst &Young – Legal where he has acted for six years as Partner and Co-Head of the Commercial Department and has intensively practiced in M&A/corporate.
During the years 1991-1993, he has managed the London office of a leading Italian law firm.
He has been teaching Corporate Governance at the Department of Law of the University of Cassino and during the years 2003 to 2007 he has been serving as a contract professor at the University of Perugia.
He has been a member of the Observatory of Public Works at the Italian Superior School of Public Administration and has been serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the European Court of Arbitration in Strasbourg.
He is member of the International Bar Association and of the Italian Business Club of London.
