Dr. Gerhard Hermann is a patent attorney based in Munich, Germany, with Vossius & Partner Patentanwälte Rechtsanwälte mbB. His practice focuses on intellectual property law, including patent opposition, revocation, and patent infringement proceedings, as well as matters related to trademark law.
Dr. Hermann studied physics at the University of Stuttgart and earned his Ph.D. while serving as a research fellow supported by the German Research Association and the Max Planck Society at the Max Planck Institute of Materials Science in Stuttgart. His scientific work also included research at the Nuclear Research Center in Karlsruhe and at the Institut Laue-Langevin in Grenoble, France.
After completing his training with VOSSIUS & PARTNER, Dr. Hermann was admitted as a German Patent Attorney (Patentanwalt) in 1983 and as a European Patent Attorney in 1985. He later qualified as a European Trademark Attorney in 1996. He also spent several months with law firms in the United States, where he gained familiarity with the fundamentals of U.S. patent law.
Dr. Hermann became a partner at VOSSIUS & PARTNER in 1986. His work regularly involves advising clients in complex intellectual property disputes and proceedings, particularly patent opposition, revocation actions, and patent infringement matters.
In addition to his legal practice, Dr. Hermann has authored publications addressing various aspects of intellectual property protection and has delivered lectures in Germany and internationally on topics related to patent and trademark law.
