Gerard J. Onorata has been with Peckar & Abramson PC since 1992 and practices in the firm’s construction litigation group. Based in River Edge, New Jersey, he focuses his practice on Litigation - Construction, with an emphasis on representing general contractors in complex disputes. Gerard regularly advises clients on issues arising under the New York Lien Law, the New Jersey Bond Act, and the New Jersey Construction Lien Law. He has authored numerous articles on these topics for the Construction and Public Contracts Law Section Newsletter of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
Gerard has handled a wide range of construction litigation and arbitration matters involving projects throughout the United States and internationally. His work includes multimillion-dollar disputes, several of which have resulted in published decisions. Over the course of his career at Peckar & Abramson PC, he has achieved multiple favorable arbitration awards and is known for his disciplined and assertive advocacy. His matters span large commercial developments, infrastructure projects, and high-end residential construction.
Gerard has been recognized by New Jersey Super Lawyers, New York-Metro Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers, and The Legal 500 for his work in construction law. In 2019, he was invited to serve on the panel responsible for rating arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association’s Construction Mega Projects panel. According to the AAA, “the rating committee is a diverse group of advocates and in-house counsel representing owners, contractors, design professionals and insurers with experience in disputes arising out of significant construction and infrastructure projects.”
