After graduating from Yale University, I came west in 1975 and spent three years prospecting for uranium in Wyoming and throughout the Rocky Mountain region, before returning to school at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. I graduated from law school with honors in 1982 and moved to Cheyenne, where I began my practice in civil litigation. I am one of four "AV" rated attorneys associated with my firm, Sundahl, Powers, Kapp & Martin, LLC, and have a practice that covers a wide range of civil and administrative issues, including insurance law, railroad law, medical malpractice and general personal injury. During my career I have appeared before state district courts in 22 out of Wyoming's 23 counties as well as in the United States District Court for the District of Wyoming. I have also briefed and argued appeals in the Wyoming Supreme Court and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
I am a member of National Association of Railroad Trial Attorneys, the Defense Research Institute, the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys and the Defense Lawyers of Wyoming. I am also a member of the Ewing T. Kerr Chapter of the American Inns of Court (president 2015-2016).
