Workers' Compensation Law - Claimants

Spinning circle Big letter B

George grew up in the country close to Lafayette, Indiana, where he was a 10-year 4-H member and on the 1983 National Championship Horse Judging Team from Indiana. He graduated from Northwestern University and received his J.D. degree from Valparaiso University School of Law, where he was the Student Bar Association President and served in other roles in law school.

With years of mentoring from James Schreiner and Samuel Furlin, George decided to open his own worker's compensation office in 1999, applying all that he learned from Jim Schreiner and Sam Furlin. Determined to make a difference in the Indiana Worker's Compensation system, he pushed for changes in the Worker's Compensation Act in the Indiana General Assembly and with different worker's compensation cases before the Worker's Compensation Board, Court of Appeals, and Supreme Court of Indiana where he made many relationships with members of the Indiana General Assembly and the chair of the Worker's Compensation Board, Terry Coriden, who became a very important part of the benefits that George provides to helping injured employees every day.

In 1999, George was selected to serve on the Board of Directors of Workplace Injury Litigation Group for his advocacy on behalf of injured employees. Martindale-Hubbell ranked George as A-V. George was soon joined by his dear friend, Jeffrey S. Sturm, to forge the law firm that excelled in helping injured employees to get the most of the Worker's Compensation Act of Indiana.

Since 2007, he was named a Super Lawyer in the state of Indiana for his representation of injured employees. George became a fellow of The College of Worker's Compensation Lawyers in 2015. This organization honors worker's compensation plaintiff’s attorneys, defense attorneys, professors, and judges nationwide.

George is also a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, Lake County Bar Association, Calumet Inn of Court, Lifetime Contributor to the Valparaiso University School of Law Review, Lifetime Member of the Indiana Horse Council, and Lifetime Member of the American Quarter Horse Association.

When not working, he has been active with his sons in all that they do, both scholastically and in their sports, volunteering and helping in the community with different organizations with his schoolteacher wife and meeting new people.
