Geert Johann Seelig advises national and international companies concerning the development and implementation of industrial property right matters. In addition to advising clients in internationally orientated trademark application proceedings, he also has extensive experience in litigation matters, particularly in matters regarding trademark rights, competition law, patent and copyright law. Geert Johann Seelig also has experience in combating branding piracy as well as health care law, design protection law, licensing and franchise Agreements.
Following his studies in Heidelberg and Freiburg, Germany, Geert Johann Seelig received his doctorate in copyright law in 1996 and was admitted to the bar in 1997. He then worked for four years as in-house counsel for Reemtsma Cigarettenfabriken GmbH in the branding and patent department, which he also managed. He joined Luther in 2006 and since then has been providing advice in the area of intellectual property law focusing on trademark rights, competition law, copyright law and patent law.
