Biography

Gary B. Englander is a trial attorney and co-founder of Englander Peebles, a South Florida Law Firm dedicated exclusively to representing people who have been seriously injured or lost a loved one due to someone else's negligence. Gary built his reputation in the courtroom, not the settlement table — clients come to him because he is willing to take a case all the way to trial when that is what it takes to secure full and fair compensation.

Over the course of his career, Gary has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of injured clients and their families, handling matters involving car, truck, motorcycle, and rideshare accidents, slip-and-fall and premises liability claims, wrongful death, defective products, negligent security, and catastrophic injury. He is a Life Member of both the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum — distinctions reserved for attorneys who have obtained recoveries of that magnitude for their clients.

Before entering private practice, Gary was a law clerk with the Office of the Florida Attorney General's Multistate Litigation Division, where he worked on data and consumer privacy matters and co-authored a policy guide on handling data breaches, while helping secure substantial recoveries on behalf of the State of Florida. As a certified legal intern with the Broward County State Attorney's Office, he tried jury and bench trials and argued numerous motions, gaining courtroom experience most attorneys don't see until years into their careers. He also served as a law clerk with the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Attorneys' Office, assisting with trial preparation and researching complex, high-stakes legal issues. That early, varied trial experience is part of what shapes his approach to every case he takes on today: prepare as if it's going to trial.

Gary earned his Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University's Shepard Broad Law Center, where he was named both a Dean Merit Scholarship recipient and a Broad Fellowship recipient. He served as Executive and Managing Editor of the International Citator and Research Guide, was selected to the Nova Trial Association, and worked as a teaching assistant instructing first-year law students legal writing and analysis. He was recognized with CALI Excellence for the Future Awards — the highest grade in a course — in Evidence, Business Entities, Torts, Wills & Trusts, Constitutional Law II (First Amendment), Interviewing & Counseling, and International Business Transactions, and completed more than 300 hours of pro bono service during law school. He holds a B.A. in Political Science, with minors in Criminal Justice and Legal Studies, from the University of Central Florida.

Gary is licensed to practice in Florida and before the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, and the District of Columbia. His work has earned him recognition including inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America®, Super Lawyers, an AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, Florida Trend's Legal Elite Up & Comer honor, and a Top 40 Under 40 distinction from The National Trial Lawyers.

Alongside his partner, Warren Peebles, Gary built Englander Peebles around a simple idea: injured people deserve a firm that will work tirelessly to achieve justice. Outside the office, Gary channels that same hands-on, detail-driven approach into his personal interests. He and his team serve clients from the firm's offices in Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
