Biography
Frank Sperduti is a leading expropriation lawyer, and contributing author to the most comprehensive textbook on expropriation law. He has been engaged as counsel in the largest infrastructure projects within Ontario, by both landowners and all levels of government.
Frank is a past president of the Ontario Expropriation Association and has written extensively about issues arising in the context of expropriation.
He has acted as counsel and appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, and other tribunals and regulatory bodies. Frank provides strategic advice, advocacy, and dispute resolution across complex and high-stakes matters throughout Ontario.
- Acting for landowners impacted by the easterly extension of Highway 407 East, the extension of Highway 404, and the widening of Highway 401.
- Counsel on the Sheppard Avenue bus rapid transit (LRT) and other large multi-site infrastructure projects across Ontario.
- Acting for and advising expropriating authorities on large-scale infrastructure projects requiring multiple property acquisitions in the regions of York, Halton, Windsor, Ottawa, and Toronto.
- Litigation counsel in civil disputes related to partnership, partition and sale proceedings, insurance, and contentious planning and land-development applications.
- Strategic counsel in regulatory proceedings, land use planning matters, and quasi-criminal prosecutions before administrative tribunals.
- Contributing author, The New Law of Expropriation — the leading Canadian expropriation law textbook (1998–present).
- Lecturer, Appraisal Institute of Canada.
