During this time I was able to learn and experience a great deal – experiences that shaped me, sharpened my understanding of criminal law and influenced my current way of working.

My path to criminal defense, however, began much earlier. Even during my studies in Konstanz, I consistently focused on criminal law. During my legal traineeship, I also deliberately chose placements with a criminal law focus – including a renowned criminal defense lawyer specializing in capital offenses and one of Germany's leading white-collar crime lawyers.

My first professional steps as a defense attorney led me to Heidelberg, where I initially practiced general criminal law, later specializing in white-collar crime and tax law. After a stint in Munich, I finally arrived in Frankfurt am Main in 2013, where I have lived and worked ever since.
Here, I was able to further deepen my expertise – first at the law firm of Dr. Felix Dörr & Partners, and later as a local partner at Tsambikakis Attorneys at Law. This period allowed me to develop professionally and establish myself as a criminal defense attorney.

Since founding our law firm, Rumpf & Schmidt-Tüshaus Part mbB, in 2021, defending clients in medical criminal proceedings has been a particular focus of my work. In particular, I defend clients in cases of alleged abuse of power in hospitals , which, due to their sensitive nature, often attract media attention. Unfortunately, this cannot always be avoided – but at best, it can be managed in a less invasive way.

Another focus of my work is tax criminal law . Here, I frequently work closely with experienced tax lawyers and consultants to optimally utilize the interface between substantive tax law and criminal defense. This interdisciplinary approach allows for symbiotic effects between tax law and criminal law, enabling me to provide clients with comprehensive advice. A particular area of ​​my practice is also the legal support of clients filing voluntary disclosures, strategically safeguarding them in complex tax law disputes.

Finally, providing legal advice to companies in various acute conflict situations represents another important focus of our work. This includes, in particular, strategic support during investigations, dealing with official measures, and preventing criminal risks within the company.

In addition to my work as a criminal defense attorney, I serve as an external, legal ombudsman for international industrial companies and am active in various professional associations for criminal defense. Furthermore, I publish in specialist journals and contribute to a well-established commentary on tax criminal law.
