Fernando Peláez-Pier joined Hoet Peláez Castillo & Duque in 1977. He is an active participant in the development of the corporate area in the firm and contributes to its strategic management. Fernando is also a recognized member of the international legal community. Being an expert in foreign investments and negotiations of contracts and financing, Peláez-Pier has been able to provide assistance to renowned international corporations from all over the world to set up in Venezuela or to finance industrial projects.
Fernando’s career has been both interesting and exceptional. He was the pioneer of advocacy’s global projection around the world being the founder and president of the Latin American and the Caribbean Forum of the International Bar Association (IBA).
Prior to joining the firm, Fernando was in charge of the creation of the London office and Director of the European Offices located in Paris and London for Bomchil Castro Goodrich Claro Arosemena & Associates, from 1972 to 1976. He was also a partner in Goodrich Riquelme & Associates in Mexico City from 1967 to 1972.
Being a member of several international organizations, his work and enthusiasm have been an important and constant contribution to the development of the international law community.
Fernando has been recommended by the renowned publications Chambers Global, Chambers Latin America and The Legal 500; and he is a regular author for several Latin American and European Publications and a regular speaker in international conferences.
Peláez-Pier has been recognized by Chambers Global, Chambers Latin America and The Legal 500 in the areas of practice of Contracts & M&A, and Banking & Finance. He also was the recipient of two Lifetime Achievement Awards by Chambers Latin America and Latin Lawyer.
