Éric Séguin joined the Monette Barakett firm in 1996. He is a partner at the firm and a member of its Executive Committee. He assists his clients by providing strategic advice with respect to his areas of practice. He works mainly in the areas of labour relations, representing employers, civil litigation, health law as well as access to information and the protection of personal information.
His clients come from different economic sectors: public and semi-public agencies; health and social services establishments; large companies; SMEs; financial institutions; NPOs; CECs.He regularly represents his clients before the common law courts, including the Quebec Court of Appeal, and before employment law bodies and other administrative tribunals.Mr. Séguin also participates in collective agreement negotiations for various social sector employers, private sector companies or non-profit organizations such as centres for early childhood (CECs). His expertise is also sought with regard to tenders and contractual matters, in which he represents the interests of the owners.
Eric is a sought-after speaker and regularly provides his clients with customized training sessions.
Over the years, he has been involved in various organizations and associations. He is the founding president of the health law section of the Canadian Bar Association, Québec Division. He is a professor at l’École du Barreau du Québec, where he teaches courses on civil liability. He also teaches a course on “The Role of Key Players in 2015,” which concerns labour relations in the graduate micro-program on Disability Management at the Université de Sherbrooke.
