Recognized in Best Lawyers since 2023 Eric Morgan represents companies, boards, and executives in complex commercial disputes and corporate governance matters, drawing on experience as both counsel and arbitrator in domestic and international proceedings.
His counsel practice centres on governance disputes, including defending independent directors against claims exceeding $200 million for breach of fiduciary duty and oppression, and representing founders, boards, and senior management in disputes over business ownership and control. His broader practice covers breach of contract, negligence, misrepresentation, and shareholder disputes, as well as class actions and the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards.
He has been appointed as arbitrator in more than 25 domestic and international arbitrations by parties, courts, and institutions, and sits on the NextGen Roster of Arbitrators at Arbitration Place and the Vancouver International Arbitration Centre's panel of arbitrators.
Mr. Morgan previously practiced in the national litigation department at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, and before that at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in London, where he was seconded to the Bank of England and Barclays Bank plc's litigation and special investigations team. He has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada and courts across Canada.
