Biography

Elizabeth J. McInturff represents individuals, businesses and fiduciaries in complex civil litigation matters throughout Maryland and Washington, D.C. Based in Bethesda, Maryland, she is a member of Selzer Gurvitch and handles a broad range of disputes involving Commercial Litigation, Litigation - Construction, and Litigation - Trusts and Estates.

Elizabeth regularly appears before Maryland and Washington, D.C. state, federal and appellate courts. In addition to courtroom advocacy, she counsels clients through alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including mediation, arbitration and administrative hearings, when those avenues align with client goals and business considerations.

Her practice emphasizes practical guidance, clear communication and thoughtful case strategy. Elizabeth works closely with clients to evaluate legal and financial considerations, identify effective solutions and pursue efficient resolutions through negotiation or litigation when necessary.

Elizabeth has been selected as a Maryland Super Lawyers honoree and recognized as a Maryland Leading Woman by The Daily Record. She has also been named a Top Attorney by Bethesda Magazine in Civil Litigation, Family & Divorce, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Elder Law.

Outside her legal practice, Elizabeth is active in the community and professional organizations. She serves on the Board of Directors of Add Impact Network, Inc./Bike to the Beach, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. She is also involved with the Montgomery County Bar Association, where she serves in leadership roles and participates on multiple committees. Elizabeth has mentored student-athletes at the University of Delaware and served as a competition coach at American University Washington College of Law. In her free time, she competes with the Gray Knights adult rowing team in the World Masters Championships.

Commercial Litigation and Construction Litigation

Elizabeth represents companies, property owners and individuals in a variety of commercial and civil disputes. Her experience includes shareholder and partnership disputes, breach of contract claims, fraud allegations, breach of fiduciary duty matters, construction litigation, consumer protection claims, title disputes and adverse possession matters. She works with clients to develop litigation strategies tailored to their operational, financial and long-term objectives.

Litigation - Trusts and Estates

Elizabeth represents beneficiaries, trustees, personal representatives and fiduciaries in estate and trust litigation matters involving wills, trusts, powers of attorney and related estate planning documents. She handles disputes concerning undue influence, fiduciary obligations, capacity challenges and fraudulent conveyances, while helping clients navigate emotionally sensitive issues with clarity and professionalism.

Guardianship Matters

Elizabeth also represents family members and interested parties in guardianship proceedings, including contested guardianship matters. She guides clients through the legal process with careful attention to both legal and personal considerations.
