Ed provides banking and debt financing expertise to a variety of clients. He counsels financial institutions, private lenders, and corporate borrowers on complex corporate and commercial financing matters with a focus on leveraged buyout acquisitions, asset-based lending, capital call facilities, financing for mortgage investment corporations, and various other bespoke financing arrangements and in the aircraft, mining, commercial real estate and diversified commercial industries.
Ed’s broad expertise extends to transactions that are secured and unsecured (including for investment grade entities), senior and subordinate, bilateral and syndicated, traditional covenant-based, and domestic and cross-border.
Ed also acts for creditors and debtors on DIP or other financings in various insolvency and restructuring proceedings including those under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act.
Prior to joining Lawson Lundell, Ed was a partner in the Vancouver office of a leading national law firm where he practiced for over 14 years.
In his spare time, Ed is a Royal Commentator on the British/Canadian/Commonwealth Monarchy and Royal Family. He has provided commentaries to, and has been featured on, BBC World News, SkyNews, CBC News, Agence France-Presse, CTV News, GlobalTV, and La Presse.
