Becky Potter is a seasoned tax litigator and a partner at Thorsteinssons LLP.
Becky brings a strategic and practical approach to tax disputes, and is known for her ability to distill complex technical tax matters down to their core principles. Using her honed advocacy skills and breadth of tax knowledge, Becky has successfully represented clients at every level of court both provincially and federally, including a landmark win at the Supreme Court of Canada. In addition to her in-court experience, she has extensive out-of-court experience negotiating favourable settlements for her clients in the course of complex CRA audits, objections, and litigation.
Becky is an active leader in the tax law community: she is the former Chair of the Advocates’ Society’s Tax Litigation Practice Group (having previously served in several different roles), she speaks and writes regularly on a variety of tax issues, she served as national reporter for Canada to the International Fiscal Association in 2025, she participates as a judge in the annual Bowman National Tax Moot for law school students, and she provides mentorship to junior lawyers through several formal and informal mentoring programs.
