Biography

Dulaney G. "Dee" Steer is a senior partner in the firm's Estate Planning, Probate and Nonprofit Organizations Practice Group. He has prepared numerous estate planning documents, including complex wills, irrevocable trusts, revocable trusts, prenuptial agreements, limited partnership documents, and limited liability company documents. Mr. Steer also works closely with clients in addressing their unique family and business issues.

On behalf of various individual and corporate trustees and executors, grantors, beneficiaries, and heirs, Mr. Steer has handled trust and estate administration matters and trust and will interpretation/modification lawsuits. He has prepared numerous estate tax returns and has represented clients before the IRS in the examination of estate and gift tax returns, both in audits and on appeals. He also has represented clients in Tax Court litigation. He advises clients on the formation, operation, and financing of nonprofit corporations and charitable trusts. He works closely with numerous public charities and private foundations on various corporate governance and tax matters and assists clients in structuring charitable gifts and grants.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Steer has served on the boards of local charities and currently is an officer of the Sid W. Richardson Foundation, the Lee and Ramona Bass Foundation, Performing Arts Fort Worth, Inc., The Philecology Foundation, and Event Facilities Fort Worth, Inc. He has been recognized by the Fort Worth Business Press and Fort Worth Magazine as one of the city’s top attorneys in the estate planning area, as voted on by local attorneys. Mr. Steer also was selected to be included in the 2007-2014 editions of The Best Lawyers in America®, for his work in the trusts and estates area and in the 2007-2014 editions of The Best Lawyers in America®, for his work in the nonprofits and charities area.
