Douw Breed

Douw Breed, Managing Director of Barnard Incorporated in South Africa, practices in various fields of commercial law and corporate litigation and boasts numerous valuable commercial relationships with clients across a wide spectrum of industries.

He heads up a dynamic team of directors, associates, and support staff in his firm’s quest to be a go-to legal services provider in South Africa. Douw obtained his BCom and LLB degrees from the North West University. He was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2009. In 2012, with the emigration of the erstwhile sole shareholder and director, Douw and Gerhard Truter acquired the firm.

Douw, working with an astute team of lawyers, regularly assists multinational and domestic companies in obtaining the approval for M&A transactions, investments and agreements containing restrictive provisions, and provides counsel with respect to matters involving potential restrictive trade practices and unlawful competition behaviour.
