Dmitry specialises in tax planning and litigation. For over 20 years, he has been advising state corporations, as well as shareholders and owners of public and private companies, on tax and business process optimisation, project finance, restructuring, acquisitions, and sales of assets, and has represented clients in disputes with tax authorities. He also has extensive experience in tax planning for setting up partnerships and corporate entities under foreign laws for asset management in Russia and CIS countries.
Recent work highlights include advising one of the world’s largest international construction companies on significant compensation for VAT surcharges in the context of a $560-m project to erect a liquefied natural gas (LNG) production facility in western Siberia (2018); representing Aquanika, a Russian drinking water company, in a $1.6-m tax dispute related to appealing tax audit results (2016 – 2017); and advising a Russian business air carrier on a complex investment restructuring project in connection with the exit of one of the investors, a large airport operator (2017– ongoing).
Prior to joining Ivanyan and Partners as a partner in 2013, Dmitry advised the firm as of counsel and ran his own tax and audit consultancy.
