Denis Ducran is Co-Managing Partner of Peckar & Abramson PC’s Texas offices and co-vice chair of the firm’s Construction Contracts and Risk Management practice. He is a board-certified construction attorney and registered architect whose practice focuses on Construction Law matters for the construction industry, including transactions, risk management, and dispute resolution in Houston, Texas.
Denis represents contractors, developers, and other construction industry participants throughout the full lifecycle of construction projects, from project planning and contract formation through construction and post-completion issues. His practice includes contract drafting and negotiation, risk allocation strategies, and the resolution of construction disputes in state and federal courts, as well as arbitration. As both a licensed attorney and registered architect, Denis brings practical insight into design and construction processes informed by more than two decades in the construction industry. Prior to practicing law, he worked as an architect in Houston and later served for six years as Vice President and General Counsel for an ENR 400 general contractor.
In addition to his legal practice, Denis is actively involved in construction education and industry organizations. He serves as an executive officer for the Construction Management Industry Advisory Board at the University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering and has been an adjunct professor there since 2010. He teaches undergraduate courses in Construction Law and Ethics and a graduate-level course in Construction Contract Administration. Denis has also been a member of the Education & Professional Development Committee for the Associated General Contractors Houston Chapter since 2017.
Denis became one of the first attorneys to be Board Certified in Construction Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2016. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers for Construction Law from 2020 through 2025, by Texas Super Lawyers from 2022 through 2025, and by Chambers USA in 2024 and 2025.
