Dejan Ristic

Dejan was called to the Ontario Bar in 2020, following the accreditation of his international legal education and training by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada’s National Committee on Accreditation. He earned his Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2019. Before becoming a lawyer in Ontario, Dejan was licensed as an Ontario paralegal from 2008 to 2020. He was previously called to the bar in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he practised law until 1994.

Dejan joined Devry Smith Frank LLP (DSF) in 1997 after working at a prominent Toronto personal injury law firm. Since joining DSF, he has assisted the firm’s clients and counsel in a broad range of civil litigation matters, including trials and appeals. He has also appeared before numerous administrative tribunals, including the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, the Licence Appeal Tribunal’s Automobile Accident Benefits Service, the Social Benefits Tribunal of Ontario, the Social Security Tribunal of Canada and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.

His practice focuses primarily on personal injury litigation and disability claims. Dejan also advises and represents clients in related civil and criminal matters arising from accidents or ongoing disabilities. When a matter calls for knowledge from another area of law, he works closely with lawyers across DSF’s full-service team to provide coordinated representation.

With more than 25 years of combined litigation experience, Dejan brings extensive knowledge and practical judgment to each matter. He is committed to pursuing favourable outcomes for his clients through courtroom advocacy, negotiation and alternative dispute resolution.

Dejan is fluent in several languages spoken throughout the former Yugoslavia. He takes pride in assisting clients in their preferred language and ensuring that every document, decision and step in the legal process is fully clear before they proceed.
