David has represented property owners across North Carolina since 2008. Named the Best Lawyers 2026 Charlotte "Lawyer of the Year" for Eminent Domain and Land Condemnation Law and 2027 Charlotte "Lawyer of the Year" for Litigation - Land Use and Zoning, he focuses exclusively on eminent domain and zoning law and litigation. As a property rights attorney, David has always remained committed to working for property owners, primarily against the government. David represents individuals and businesses in land condemnation and eminent domain trial litigation, but also in obtaining zoning permits and variances, litigating zoning appeals before local boards. David has represented a broad spectrum of people and businesses in property-related matters including homeowners, places of worship, convenience store gas stations, restaurants (sit-down and fast food), farms, subdivision developments, warehouses, small business owners, car sales lots, and hotels. David has been selected to the North Carolina Super Lawyers & Rising Stars list every year since 2015 for his eminent domain work and Best Lawyers in America since 2021 for his land use, zoning, eminent domain and land condemnation practice. David was born in Charlotte, grew up in Greenwood, SC, and graduated from high school in Hendersonville, NC. He met his wife in law school and they have one daughter. He has been licensed to practice in North Carolina since 2008.
