David Shebby

As a certified Family Law Specialist and the founding partner of Shebby Hirashima LLP, David Shebby brings more than three decades of trial experience to his Los Angeles Family Law practice. In addition to being a Certified Family Law Specialist, David is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Family Law Executive Committee, and an adjunct professor at Loyola Law School, where he teaches marital property.

David received his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1993 and his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1990.

Since 2010, Los Angeles Magazine has recognized David as a Southern California “Super Lawyer,” and in 2024 named him one of the top 100 lawyers (in all fields of practice) in Southern California. He has an AV® Preeminent™ peer ranking (the highest possible rating) for both Family Law and Civil Litigation and is selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America.

David is a past president and current board member of the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law, which provides free family law assistance and legal education to the poor in Los Angeles. In 2017, the Center recognized David’s service with its Hall of Fame Award, which “honors a volunteer whose efforts exhibit, by action and deed over an extended period of time, exceptional service and dedication to the Center, its clients and its causes, and who has left a permanent mark in its history.”

David has published articles and lectured for, among others, the State Bar of California, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Beverly Hills Bar Association, the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists, the Bar Association of San Francisco, the Alameda County Bar Association, the American Inns of Court, and CalCPA.

In addition to all California state courts, David is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States District Courts, Central and Southern Districts of California.
