For over 30 years, David Sherman has maintained a civil litigation practice, successfully representing a broad range of clients in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts. David specializes in business, real estate, probate, and creditors’ rights matters. David has represented a variety of businesses including state and national financial services companies, insurance carriers, and paper companies, as well as Maine-based businesses. David also represents condominium and homeowners’ associations both in litigation and corporate / governance matters. In his role, David helps his clients find creative solutions to the most complex of legal problems.

David has received many accolades for his litigation work; notably, he is listed in Best Lawyers in America in the categories of Bankruptcy/Creditor-Debtor Rights and Litigation-Real Estate. David also authored a chapter on Interrogatories in the MCLE publication “A Practical Guide to Discovery and Depositions in Maine” in 2014.

David is also deeply committed to giving back to his community. He currently serves on the Board of Governors for the Portland Country Club and has donated a significant amount of his time to many organizations including the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Maine, Cape Elizabeth Education Foundation, Cape Elizabeth Planning Board, Cape Elizabeth Town Council, and Maine’s Campaign for Justice. David enjoys spending time with his three adult sons and is an outdoor sports enthusiast, and can be found on the weekends on the tennis courts or in the mountains. David was a founding member and first president of the Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project.
