Motorcycle Crash
In March of 2022, the plaintiff, a 42-year-old web developer for a media group, was riding his motorcycle in Lynchburg, Virginia. The defendant, driving an SUV, failed to yield the right of way and made a left turn in front of the plaintiff’s motorcycle, causing the collision.
The plaintiff was ejected from his motorcycle and lost consciousness. Due to the nature of this incident, his injuries were extensive. Some of the most significant injuries included fractures to his pelvis, tibial plateau, thoracic/lumber spine, ankle, and foot. He also endured a pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, an ACL rupture, and a scrotal edema.
The plaintiff was transported to a local hospital, but because of his condition, he had to be transferred to the hospital at the University of Virginia via a medical flight. He remained at the hospital for approximately three weeks, where he underwent multiple surgeries. After the hospital stay, he was transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation hospital, where he spent another month recuperating. In all, he received active follow-up treatment for over a year, concluding in April of 2023.
The plaintiff retained the services of David M. Williams of Allen & Allen, and the case was settled for $1,500,000.
Pedestrian Accident
Our client was a 36-year-old long-haul truck driver, and he was injured as a pedestrian in March of 2023. He was walking through the parking lot of a gas station when he was struck by another vehicle.
As a result of the collision, our plaintiff sustained injuries to his neck, back, ribs, and left leg. He was diagnosed with a tibia fracture, a C6-C7 fracture, a T-3 compression fracture, and multiple rib fractures. He was transported to a local hospital via rescue squad, where he remained for nine days. During this admission, he underwent surgery to address the leg and neck fractures. Our plaintiff was then transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation facility for a short stay. Following his discharge, the plaintiff’s treatment was limited and he made a good recovery.
The parties agreed to mediation shortly after the suit was filed, and settled for $1,125,000.00.
Motorcycle Accident
Our client is a 35-year-old retired Marine, a systems engineer for a government contractor, and a resident of Stafford County. He sustained serious injuries while operating his Kawasaki motorcycle when the defendant failed to yield the right of way and pulled out from a convenience store directly into his path.
The most significant injury involved the plaintiff’s right knee. He was diagnosed with a complete rupture of the proximal patellar tendon, a full-thickness tear of the anterior medial patellofemoral ligament and medial retinaculum, and a complex traumatic wound to the anterior knee involving the skin, subcutaneous tissue, fascia, and tendon.
Our client was transported from the scene by rescue squad and admitted to the hospital for two days. Approximately three weeks later, his orthopedic surgeon performed surgery on his right knee. Additional surgical procedures were required over time to address a chronic, non-healing wound.
Following these procedures and an extended course of physical therapy, our client made an excellent recovery and was able to resume his full activity level. The case ultimately resolved for $500,000.00, representing the defendant’s liability policy limits.
