David M. Golden

David Golden is a partner in Torkin Manes LLP’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group and Chair of the firm’s Health Care Facilities Group in Toronto, Ontario. His practice focuses on Corporate and Commercial Litigation and Health Care Law, with experience handling a broad range of civil, commercial, and regulatory matters for businesses, organizations, and professionals.

With nearly four decades of litigation experience, David represents clients before all levels of court, as well as administrative boards and tribunals involved in the regulation of the health care sector and the professions. He advises corporations, including private and non-profit organizations, along with regulated professionals such as health care practitioners, engineers, and lawyers, on complex disputes, risk management, and regulatory matters. His work also includes providing counsel to the Ontario Long Term Care Association and the Ontario Retirement Communities Association.

David’s Corporate and Commercial Litigation practice includes shareholder and partnership disputes, oppression remedies, breach of contract claims, injunctions, negligence actions, real estate disputes, mortgage enforcement proceedings, and commercial arbitrations. He regularly assists clients with dispute resolution through litigation, mediation, arbitration, and judicial mediation.

In his Health Care Law practice, David advises health care organizations, long-term care providers, retirement communities, and regulated professionals on regulatory compliance, professional liability, governance, and dispute resolution matters. He has extensive experience appearing before health care and professional regulatory bodies and assisting clients with matters involving professional standards and administrative law.

David is also a frequent speaker on health law and litigation topics and has presented to lawyers, health care professionals, and industry organizations at conferences and educational programs. He has been recognized by legal directories for his work in Health Care Law and Corporate and Commercial Litigation.

Within Torkin Manes LLP, David previously served as a member of the firm’s elected Management Committee and has held leadership roles as Chair of the Civil Litigation Department and Professional Development. He is also a member of the firm’s DEI Committee and contributes to the community through his involvement with Baycrest Health Sciences’ Quality & Safety Committee.
