David Lavkulik is a Toronto mediator, lawyer and partner at Devry Smith Frank LLP, where he has practised since 1999. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1995 after earning a B.A. in Economics from the University of Toronto in 1990 and a law degree from the University of Victoria in 1993.
With more than 28 years of civil litigation experience, David handles matters involving insurance and personal injury claims, including tort, accident benefits, disability and coverage disputes. His practice also includes medical malpractice, professional negligence, employment litigation, estates litigation, real estate litigation, commercial litigation and sexual abuse claims. Approximately 75% of his practice has involved representing corporate defendants and insurers, while the remaining 25% has focused on representing injured parties and other plaintiffs.
David has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, including jury and non-jury trials, the Court of Appeal for Ontario and costs hearings. He has also appeared before the Financial Services Commission of Ontario.
As both counsel and mediator, David brings substantial experience to the mediation process. He has mediated more than 2,000 claims and has been described as “persistent,” “patient,” and a “demonstration of the real art of mediation.” Having represented both plaintiffs and defendants throughout his career, David offers valuable insight into the priorities and perspectives of each side.
