David J. Rashid

David J. Rashid is a Partner at Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. who focuses his practice on medical malpractice, catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. He has particular experience handling complex medical negligence cases involving misdiagnosis, surgical errors, birth injuries and emergency room errors. Since joining the firm in 2023, Mr. Rashid has recovered more than $575 million in verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients.

Mr. Rashid has achieved significant results in complex medical malpractice and catastrophic injury cases. His notable results include:

• $32.7 million jury verdict for a man who suffered a life-altering foot amputation after doctors failed to recognize signs of a blood clot, the highest Illinois verdict for the loss of one leg or foot

• $28 million medical malpractice settlement

• $241 million jury verdict for the family of a Missouri man who died while transporting dry ice as part of his work as a courier, including $49.5 million in compensatory damages and $191.5 million in punitive damages

• More than $130 million in verdicts and settlements secured during his previous practice at another prominent Chicago personal injury firm

In his first trial with Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, Mr. Rashid obtained the $32.7 million jury verdict in a medical negligence case involving the failure to recognize signs of a blood clot that ultimately resulted in the loss of his client's foot. The verdict is the highest Illinois verdict for the loss of one leg or foot. Mr. Rashid also holds records for medical malpractice verdicts in Cook County and medical malpractice settlements in Cook, Richland and Crawford Counties. In 2026, he was part of a trial team that obtained a $241 million jury verdict for the family of a Missouri man who died while transporting dry ice as part of his work as a courier.

Mr. Rashid takes a meticulous and analytical approach to medical malpractice litigation. He works closely with leading medical experts to identify where healthcare providers failed to meet the applicable standard of care and develops trial strategies designed to hold negligent providers and hospitals accountable. He also takes the time to understand the circumstances surrounding each case and works closely with his clients to ensure they understand their legal options and feel supported throughout the legal process.

He has lectured on medical malpractice and trial advocacy at the University of Notre Dame Law School and the United Institute for Continuing Legal Education. In 2023, he presented Medical Grand Rounds to the Departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. He has also appeared on numerous legal podcasts, including “The Results Podcast,” presented by Trial Lawyers University.

Before joining Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. in 2023, Mr. Rashid practiced at another prominent Chicago personal injury firm, where he secured more than $130 million in verdicts and settlements. He began his legal career as a law clerk with the Office of the Chief Prosecutor for the U.S. Office of Military Commissions.
