Inducted as a Distinguished Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators in May 2014, David was first accredited as a mediator by LEADR in 1993 and was accredited under the Australian National Mediation Standards by the Accord Group when the Standards were introduced in 2009/09. David is on the panel of mediators maintained by LEADR, the Law Society of SA and the Commonwealth Office of the Franchising Mediation Advisor. He regularly acts as a mediator in a wide range of commercial disputes.
David is also registered as a legal adviser with the Advertising Standards Bureau. He is a past President and Honorary life member of the Australian Institute of Management (SA), and a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Recent experience includes:
- Acted for international publicly listed company providing specialist subsea oil and gas construction services. This included conduct of Supreme Court proceedings following termination of a significant subsea pipeline contract in the Bass Strait.
- Acted and retained by major Australian advertising agencies for more than 30 years’ to provide advice on competition and consumer law, intellectual property, advertising self-regulation, and ethical issues.
- Advises and acts for national franchisors in State and Federal Courts on a range of franchising matters (and the mediation of numerous franchise disputes on appointment from the OFMA), development of franchising documents, and compliance systems.
- Advises and acts for international grain aggregators and exporters, including conduct of State and cross border disputes, joint venture disputes, trade practices/regulatory matters, financial services, commodities trading, and a wide range of other matters.
