David C. Erb is a Certified Family Law Specialist certified by The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization, a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), and the Principal in charge of Flicker Kerin LLP’s East Bay office in San Ramon, California. His practice focuses on family law matters involving complex financial and property division issues, including founder’s stock, stock options, restricted stock, venture capital interests, closely held business interests, and executive compensation matters.
Mr. Erb represents clients in a wide range of California family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and high-asset property division. He has experience handling contested custody matters involving recommending mediation, custody evaluations, and the appointment of a special master or parenting coordinator. In addition to his litigation practice, he also serves as consulting counsel for clients participating in mediation.
Before entering the legal profession, Mr. Erb worked as a business valuation analyst, most recently with Burr, Pilger & Mayer, Inc. In that role, he prepared business valuations for compliance, litigation, and strategic planning purposes. His work involved private and public companies across multiple industries, with a significant focus on technology companies and emerging businesses.
While attending law school, Mr. Erb worked in the Private Equity Group at Silicon Valley Bank, where he participated in the Entrepreneur Services and Venture Capital Relationship Management Groups. His responsibilities included diligence support and cross-platform relationship initiatives involving venture capital and emerging growth companies.
Mr. Erb earned his undergraduate degree in Finance from Santa Clara University. During his studies, he worked at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in the group responsible for executive stock option trading, further developing the financial background that informs his family law practice today.
