Daniel P. Aleksynas represents clients in patent law matters involving chemical, electrical, medical device, and mechanical technologies. Based in Troy, Michigan, he works with startups, established businesses, and innovators on intellectual property strategy, patent prosecution, and related litigation support. His practice includes Litigation - Intellectual Property, Litigation - Patent, and Patent Law at Young Basile Hanlon & MacFarlane PC.
Mr. Aleksynas is responsible for drafting and prosecuting provisional and non-provisional patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and international patent offices. He analyzes client and competitor patents, prepares non-infringement and freedom-to-operate opinions, and assists with reexamination proceedings and responses to inter partes reviews. He also counsels companies on developing and managing intellectual property portfolios and internal intellectual property practices.
Industry Experience
Before entering private practice, Mr. Aleksynas worked as a process engineer with Sonoco Paper Division. In that role, he contributed to product development initiatives, participated in the implementation of more than $2 million in capital improvements, and worked on engineering process improvements. He also managed environmental compliance responsibilities and earned Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
