Daniel Weigel is an associate in the firm’s Complex Litigation & Restructuring practice group where he represents clients across a diverse array of subject matters encompassing all phases of litigation, from initial case evaluation through final resolution. With extensive experience managing complex federal and state court cases, Daniel has earned a reputation for handling intricate commercial, business, construction, and insurance disputes. Additionally, Daniel has gained a wide range of insurance defense experience from initial claim and coverage determinations through jury trials and appeals, including premises liability and wrongful death claims.

Some of Daniel’s notable experience includes: representing an employment company in a high-stakes ERISA fiduciary breach case; representing a land development company in bringing constitutional due process and takings claims against a municipality and city officials in connection with a $22 million project; and representing a municipality handling many layers of a complex multi-party insurance disputes arising from a hundred-million dollar city project. Daniel is also dedicated to defending the constitutional rights of marginalized individuals in the criminal justice system. Prior to joining private practice, he represented indigent clients as an Assistant Public Defender. As a student attorney at Emory Law’s Barton Juvenile Defender Clinic, he defended juveniles in court, and, for one client, assisted in drafting an appellate brief to the Georgia Court of Appeals. Presently, Daniel provides pro bono services representing foster-care students at due process hearings to ensure these students constitutional rights and interests are protected throughout the student disciplinary process. For this volunteer work, Daniel was recently recognized by the Georgia Appleseed Center for Law & Justice as a 2022-2023 “Pro Bono Champion” Key Contributor.
