Curt Schatz is the Managing Partner of Mullins Lawyers and leads the Property and Hospitality Practice.
Appointed as Managing Partner in 2015, Curt has more than 30 years of experience in Property, Liquor and Gaming law. His extensive experience working with clients in the hospitality industry and building long standing relationships has led to Curt being recognised as a leader in this industry. He advises pub, club, nightclub, restaurant, resort and accommodation venue owners and operators on the strategic and technical aspects of their business operations and freehold ownerships. He advises property developers and owners about assets, which include licensed premises.
Curt's expertise includes acquisitions and sales, site acquisitions, all forms of liquor licensing and gaming applications, management agreements, and establishment of new licensed venues for greenfield sites. His work includes all compliance issues relating to licensed venues, including accessing employment law advice. Curt also acts regularly for sellers, buyers and owners of hotels and other accommodation venues.
Curt works closely with government regulators in the liquor and gaming sector, and has advised on the amendments to the Queensland liquor and gaming laws. In addition, he is a key adviser to peak industry bodies such as the Queensland Hotels Association (QHA) and Clubs Queensland, including preparing industry submissions. Curt is a regular contributor to industry publications and magazines. Curt frequently speaks at industry conferences about developments in gaming, liquor and responsible service.
Curt has committed a decade to providing free legal advice to the community on a weekly ABC radio talkback show.
