Courtney L. Shepard is a family law attorney with Burch Shepard Family Law Group APC in Newport, California. She focuses exclusively on family law matters and is certified as a Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Her practice includes matters involving child custody, child support, spousal support, same-sex marriage issues, attorney fees, and complex property and business-related disputes.
Ms. Shepard has extensive courtroom and litigation experience representing clients in a wide range of California family law proceedings. She completed a nationally recognized trial advocacy program with an emphasis on child custody litigation, support matters, and complex business issues that may arise in divorce and family law cases.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a business specialization from UCLA and received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Whittier Law School. During law school, she served as a member of the Law Review, earned Dean’s List recognition, and participated as a fellow in the Center for Children’s Rights, where she was awarded a scholarship.
In addition, Ms. Shepard served on the Whittier Law School Trial Advocacy Honors Board and competed in national trial advocacy competitions. Before entering private practice, she gained litigation experience as a certified law clerk with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Outside of her legal practice, Ms. Shepard supports the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and enjoys fitness, reading, cooking, travel, and spending time with family and friends.
