Colin Dubeau

Colin Dubeau is a partner at Nelligan Law, and the leader of our Insurance Practice Group. Since his call to the Bar in 1999, Colin has practised exclusively in the areas of civil litigation and advocacy.

He has appeared before all levels of Ontario courts, and also has experience before the Federal Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Canada, and a diverse array of administrative tribunals.

Colin has worked extensively on property and casualty insurance claims, including motor vehicle claims, accident benefit litigation, personal injury claims, bad faith claims, construction law claims, defamation claims, social and commercial host claims, fire loss claims, and coverage-related issues. Colin has experience in professional liability claims against lawyers, accountants, architects, engineers, school officials, and health care practitioners. He has also been involved in ecclesiastical and municipal litigation. Colin wa featured in the 2020 edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada for his work in Insurance Law.

In his practice, Colin has acted for clients in a diverse range of commercial disputes, including construction claims, building deficiency claims, environmental claims, debt collection matters, shareholder disputes, and a vast array of insurance contract interpretation and dispute claims.

Colin enjoys the strategic aspect of law, and the interaction with clients. He always maintains focus on the big picture, and keeps the end result in mind throughout the legal process. He is honest, straight-forward, and dedicated to his clients’ interests.

Outside of work, Colin loves to travel, particularly to the warmer climes of Cuba. He is also interested in home improvement, construction, and house design.
