Clarence Risin is a shareholder in the Nashville office and concentrates his practice in the area of litigation. Mr. Risin has experience handling commercial litigation, personal injury, products liability, and transportation litigation matters. Mr. Risin is the former chair of the Firm's Personal Injury and Business Litigation Group (2003 – 2006) and former chair of the Firm's Diversity Committee (2002 – 2007).
Mr. Risin's commercial litigation experience includes representing national corporations in complex commercial cases, including, but not limited to, issues involving contract disputes, negligent and intentional misrepresentations, interference with contractual and business relations, breach of franchise disputes and disputes alleging breach of fiduciary duties. Mr. Risin managed a multi-state commercial litigation campaign consisting of over three hundred lawsuits involving allegations of state and federal laws relating to the wrongful interruption of telecommunication services, interference with contractual relations, unfair competition and unjust enrichment.
Mr. Risin's personal injury experience includes, but is not limited to, defending against claims involving negligence, wrongful death, and malicious prosecution. He successfully led the defense of over forty lawsuits against a shipping broker relating to a Hepatitis A outbreak which resulted in numerous injuries and wrongful death claims. Mr. Risin's products liability experience includes representing various industries in complex multimillion dollar federal and state court litigation.
Mr. Risin's practice in the area of transportation litigation relates to motor vehicle transportation. His experience includes representing motor carriers in wrongful death actions arising out of catastrophic accidents, which include, but is not limited to, claims relating to DOT violations, negligent hiring, retention and supervision, negligent entrustment and failure to maintain equipment properly. Mr. Risin has also represented motor carriers in contractual disputes and defended carriers in suits by former employees for retaliatory discharge. He is a member of the Firm's 24 Hour Motor Carrier Emergency Response Team, a group of attorneys dedicated to providing rapid post-accident intervention and investigation throughout the Firm's footprint and beyond, whenever and wherever you need us.
Mr. Risin has significant experience in jury trials and appellate representation in federal and state courts.
