Focusing his practice primarily on intellectual property litigation, Chris brings a passion for science and the law that makes him a dedicated advocate for each of his clients. Prior to joining Woodard Emhardt, he gained valuable experience in Chicago assisting throughout all phases of the litigation process for clients of every size. His litigation work has included drafting briefs in support of and in opposition to motions, producing claim charts in preparation for Markman hearings, construing intrinsic patent evidence, and evaluating extrinsic scientific literature.
Beyond the courtroom, Chris has developed broad experience guiding clients through intellectual property portfolio management, including trademark registration, domain name acquisitions, patent application drafting and prosecution, and post-grant proceedings. He has evaluated the patentability of invention disclosures across a variety of technology fields, including medical devices, varnishes, drones, and automated seating systems. Chris has also assisted in drafting technology transfer and licensing agreements in a wide range of contexts, including software, oil spill cleaning and removal, pharmaceuticals, and joint biological research ventures.
His academic achievements reflect the same drive and dedication he brings to his practice. During his time at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Chris was crowned the Sherman Minton Moot Court Champion and served as a Board Member for the Intellectual Property Association. As an undergraduate at Marian University, he was a four-year athlete on the men's basketball team, demonstrating the discipline and competitive spirit that continue to define his approach to client service.
